After a truly memorable Season's Beatings event on December 27th, GCW returns with a huge show to kick off the 2011 year in Great Canadian Wrestling, with championship matches and a few familiar faces too. Let's see how the card is shaping up for this monumental event in less than three weeks time..
GCW ONTARIO INDEPENDENT CHAMPIONSHIP:
CODY DEANER vs. TYLER TIRVA
Last month at GCW Season's Beatings, we saw a special added attraction match that finally settled the question of who would claim the vacant GCW Ontario Independent Championship. The two top contenders for the title were Cody Deaner and Tyler Tirva. After a hard fought match, it was Cody Deaner who had his hand raised in victory. However, GCW fans feel that Tirva deserves a fair rematch, with both men having time to prepare and study the tapes of one another. This time Tirva and Deaner are prepared and will put anything on the line, whatever it takes to leave the Royal Canadian Legion Hall the GCW Ontario Independent Champion.
GCW CANADIAN NATIONAL CHAMPION RJ CITY's OPEN CHALLENGE
RJ City has had a busy schedule of late, but he has made it clear that on February 25th, he will be in Oshawa to defend his shiny GCW Canadian National Championship. While RJ City is a man with my talents, whether it be his singing ability or his acting abilities, he is also a force to be reckon with in the squared circle, as he's proven by still holding onto the championship belt. He's coming to Oshawa on February 25th, and he's coming with a purpose. He is issuing an open challenge to anyone who wants a shot at the title. He wants the biggest, baddest man in all of Ontario Indy Wrestling to step forth, so RJ City can prove he's the baddest and best champion that there ever will be. But one can't help but wonder, what other tricks might the champ have up his sleeve..?
GABRIELLA VANDERPOOL #1 CONTENDER
After a grueling 8-woman tournament in December to crown a new #1 contender to the WILD Championship, the dust settled and it was Gabriella Vanderpool standing at the end. She's had her problems in recent months with Anthony Darko, and Primo Scordino, and even their new protege Seleziya Sparks. Gabriella believes she's the one to take the strap finally from the loudmouth Darko and finally give GCW fans what they've waited almost an entire year to see. A brand-new GCW WILD Champion. Will she be the one? Or will Darko use his underhanded tricks to retain the title like he has so many times before...
SEBASTIAN SUAVE vs. HAYDEN AVERY
After one year, Sebastian Suave was finally able to rid himself of Jamie Virtue, inside the steel cage at Season's Beatings. As with all endings, come new beginnings, and Suave has stated that 2011 will be his year, and he's starting it off with a man he knows quite well, former GCW triple crown winner, Hayden Avery. Hayden, a man who has been having his problems with ex-partner Cody Deaner as of late, isn't afraid to break a rule or three if its in his best interests. Hayden also recently has been using a loaded kneepad to help keep his winning streak alive, is Suave going to be able to avoid the kneepad?? And will Sebastian Suave keep riding the momentum of 2010 right into the new year and maybe even see some championship gold come his way, be there February 25th to find out!!
DANGERBOY DEREK WYLDE vs. BORIS BREZHNEV with JAMIE VIRTUE
As there are with all wars, there are winners and losers. But Boris Brezhnev is not a loser, even though his hand wasn't raised in the steel cage war in December. Jamie Virtue has been recovering in his Palm Springs, Florida residence, frantically making phone calls to secure that only the best in GCW are in line for his Russian monster. Well GCW officials have given him the very best that Ontario has to offer in the form of Dangerboy Derek Wylde. Boris and Dangerboy are ready to square off one-on-one, and as always the dastardly Jamie Virtue will be at ringside, and word's going around that he's got a new cane and is looking for a certain legend to test it out on...
