i picked up a Wii about a year and a halph ago. (or so) but when i got my dog i never played it, for about 1 year i dont think i even turned the thing on. anyway for xmass i got it modded. which has put a lil life into the system as ive played it a few times since then. and when i dont play, i always want to.... just dont have time.
its great because i get games dirt cheap. in fact i got 17 games in the last two weeks.
anyone have a wii, what games do you suggest ?

Mega Man 9 IS awesome, but it depends on how much you like getting your ass handed to you 1987 style.
BTW Homebrew Channel Quake is awesome. Get it.

So can you burn or "back up" games to the Wii Hard drive after doing these mods?
I had an Original X-Box modded and it was worth every penny.

The Wii doesn't have a hard drive, it uses SD flash memory. In the end it works out better for the Homebrew Channel, because it's a much better way of transferring stuff.
Note: The Wii's SD limit is 2gb, and it won't read anything higher. I know it's lame, but apparently sometime this spring they will release a patch that will accept 4gb and SDHD.

I liked the Zelda game but wasn't long enough for my liking. Mario Kart got boring REAL quick.
I spent the most time on MLB Power Pros of all things. (It's a bobble-head baseball game)

JC you are my favorite person! Power Pros is awesome! It's actual a distant cousin of the old RBI Baseball series, which never stopped in Japan and is only now coming back here. This time they just translated the name of the Japanese series instead of going with RBI Baseball.

i had 5 microsoft xbox's with mod chips and love em. they each have a upgraded hard drive, ranging for 160 gig to about 300. they are cool cause my house is smart wired. so every place i have a tv i have an xbox. and with that i can stream all my media to each of the tv's. TVERSITY (SP?) can do something like that on the wii, but you need the internet channel. ANYWAY ............... havent had much time to play the wii as of late, but my game total is building. i think im @ about 40ish............... the great thing is if a game sux, big deal...it cost me $3

The first party games that nintendo puts out are nothing short of awesome - MAINLY the Mario, Metroid and Zelda franchises. Can you name a zelda or metroid game that sucks ass? (excluding cd-i lol). Being an owner of PS3, 360, and wii, I usually put any mario platformer (such as galaxy), metroid, or zelda game before anything else on the market. I dont think theres ever been a bad zelda or metroid game. While they kinda lack an in-depth story, they display exactly what a freelance adventure game should have. The gameplay, massive overworld, upgradeables, and puzzles give you a solid experience with insane replay value. I probably end up playing ocarina of time once every couple yrs just for the nostalgia. Heres what I know about most Wii games you prob heard of: - Zelda TP: Make this your first/2nd priority
- Metroid prime 3: You should prob play the first 2 primes before hand. The FPS controls on this blow any dual analog FPS game out my ass.
- Mario Galaxy: one of the best platformers of all time. You can play this game in as little as 10 min increments. Easy to pick up, insanely addictive - hence why it won game of the yr 2007 on most sites. Need to burn some time before goin out? Turn this baby on and pick up a few stars
- World of goo: best downloadable on wii ware
- Res evil 4: pretty cool, but stick to the gamecube version
- Rock band 2/Guitar hero: dont bother - play on the 360 instead
- Boom blox: Fuckin killer!
- Super paper mario fuckin sucks ass
- Mario Kart: JC said it best, fun @ first, then boring
- Shaun White: pretty good times w/ friends on the balance board, same with Skate it
- Tiger woods 09 - pretty much a 1 to 1 golf swing, great for online... stay away from the 07 and 08 versions
- Trauma Centre: the simulation surgeon concept works well with the wiimote
- Mario strikers charged: see mario kart above
- WarioWare: play under the influence for best results
- Mario sluggers: just stick to MLB power pros instead
- Any sonic title, carnival games, misc 3rd party shit just stay away from.

Super Paper Mario is awesome, you just probably thought it was a platformer when it is actually an rpg in a side scrolling view.
Metroid Prime 3 WAS awesome, but not the best controls Medal of Honour: Heroes 2 bested it.
Resident Evil 4 was much much better on the Wii don't let him fool you. It's better if you prefer PC controls, which I don't understand how someone wouldn't but to each their own.
I agree about pretty much everything else.
Edit: Rock Band 2 is the exact same on Wii as it is on the other consoles, and Guitar Hero (World Tour) actually has more features on the Wii than the others do.

i have many of the games you mentioned, its my opinion that they wii shines in group play. to play the wii myself is ok, but with a friend its just sooo much better. i played mario kart tonight for about 1hr or so, i did enjoy it. ill play til i get all the courses and then move onto one of my other 30 games. games like zelda and metroid id wait til i can sit for an hour or two. i like simple arcade fun, i dont mind my facebreakers KO.
