The DOI was informed today from someone very close to Alexa Thatcher that Alexa is through with wrestling. Alexa has lost her desire for wrestling and wants to attend to her personal life. Alexa made several bad business decisions the last few months, such as no-showing several events, but according to one of Alexa's close friends, the reason for her no-shows is that Alexa is tending to family matters.
Alexa, who wasn't booked for JAPW's 6/28 show, as she was booked for Terry Allen's Big Time Wrestling on 6/28 has pulled off that event. Alexa won't be appearing at any indy shows for the time being. I've been told that she is 100% done, at least for a while.
Of course, no one really retires from wrestling, as I can see this being an extended break until Alexa sorts out her real life, but from what I'm getting, she has no interest in wrestling right now.
The highest profile spot Alexa leaves is the female valet role in JAPW's D-Factor stable, which basically was Alexa playing the Alicia role ever since Alicia's retirement.
The northeast has taken alot of female talent hits in the past few months. Talia Madison, Mercedes Martinez & Becky Bayless have all moved out of the area. Sumie Sakai is doing MMA. Alicia retired at the end of 2007. Melissa Stripes has no interest in wrestling and is currently training for triathalon competitions. Alere Little Feather is out with an injury.
With Alexa leaving, this opens up alot of spots for female wrestlers who really want it. Someone who has been making the most of the opportunity is current WSU Champion Angel Orsini, who returned to wrestling last year after a brutal ankle injury. Angel also has taken alot of the female match bookings that Joe Panzarino of NWS used to give to the Alicia's, Alexa's & Stripes. I see people like Roxxie Cotton & Jana breaking out, with established stars such as Amy Lee who's always professional & ready to go.
Spots on shows & wrestlers come and go, and it should be interesting to see who rises to the top in the northeast.
The DOI wishes Alexa well during her sabbatical.
