The lunatics of the International Wrestling Syndicate are back in action this Saturday in an action packed card where every IWS title will be on the line and a number of guys with grudges are heading for a massive collision in our annual celebration of the feuds that leave us… Scarred For Life.

*****
This would be where I fill a thousand words trying to fill you in on the back story of why you should shell out money to see this show, but I have been furiously busy getting the “I”s crossed and the “T”s dotted on something that will make IWS fans very happy - more details on Saturday, cross fingers, knock on wood. Instead, let me give you some excerpts from my e-mail correspondence this month.
To Jimmy K :
Jimmy – I would worry about scaring you, but if anyone in wrestling is a Man with No Fear, it is you. Just your wardrobe alone proves that – I mean nobody else could pull off the toilet paper skirt. And nobody in the IWS is running a hot streak like you; there is a reason that you were named the IWS Rookie of the Year for 2007. And at the risk of jinxing you, you need to be told: Saturday is the most important match that you have ever wrestled.
You have a chance to win the IWS Title, the most important belt in Canada. You have a chance to beat Kevin Steen, arguably Canada’s Best Wrestler. And I mean that. You have a chance to win. But to do that, to prove that you deserve to wear the belt, to prove that you deserve to tour the world like Kevin Steen, you have to do one thing: you have to take off the brakes. Understand, I am not saying that you have held back in previous matches, but to beat Kevin Steen, to win the IWS Title, you have to have the very best match that you have ever had in your entire life. That means forgetting about revenge on EXesS, that means focusing every ounce of energy, every drop of sweat, everything you have into the one singular quest of beating Kevin Steen and taking his IWS gold.
You may not consider this a compliment – I do not know if you WILL be able to do that, but I firmly believe that you CAN.
*****
To Max Boyer :
No, I will not start referring to you in print as “The Best Technical Wrestler in the Multiverse”.
*****
To El Generico :
OLE! Por favor matanza Max Boyer. OLE!
*****
To Twiggy :
Hey Twig. Look I know that you are upset that 2.0 are going to California to wrestle for PWG instead of you and Franky, because when PWG called on Monday, you and Franky were at the Habs game on a “team-bonding exercise”
I thought Franky hated hockey – Was he just there for the post-game riot? And was it really necessary for you two to burn that Cop car?
At least you get to take your frustrations out on 2.0 this Saturday when you and Franky defend your belts against Jagged and Shane Matthews.
You sure that Franky is okay with you naming the team the Rock 'N Roid Express?
*****
To Jagged :
BOO-YAH to you too. Please stop calling me and e-mailing me and texting me and coming to the office to tell me that you are going to California to wrestle for PWG in their DDT4 Tag Team Tournament. The first fifty times were sufficient. And no, I will not announce that you are going to California as the IWS Tag Team Champions. You have to actually beat Twiggy and Franky first. I know you keep saying that the match is in the bag and that the victory is a minor technicality, but saying it don’t make it so.
*****
To Twiggy :
--You sure that Franky is okay with you naming the team the Rock 'N Roid Express?
-Well if he has a problem with it, I'll just give him a hug, me & Juan used to hug, it's bound to work!
-Twiggy
I don’t really think that Franky is a hugger.
*****
To Canada Customs :
I know that you have been getting a series of anonymous phone calls and e-mails claiming that a “Mister Edward Kingston is coming to Canada on Saturday for the sole and express purpose of beating the living shit out of beloved Canadian icon Beef Wellington.” Please be informed that this information is incomplete and erroneous. Eddie Kingston is coming to Canada. He will be beating the shit out of Beef Wellington (if you let him across the border) Beef may be Canadian, but he is neither beloved nor an icon. Please allow Eddie Kingston to cross the border.
*****
To the Broomboys :
You guys all know the rules when it comes to the Green Phantom and “Paranoid” Jake Matthews:
-Don’t make eye contact
-Don’t touch either of them (or their gear)
-Especially Jake’s shovel or Phantom’s mask
-Don’t talk to either of them.
-Do NOT under any circumstances drink any hot liquid near either of them.
But given what happened to “Pure Fucking Metal” at the last staff meeting (and good news, it appears that he will be all right) I think we need to impose a new rule:
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES EVER stand directly between the Green Phantom and Jake
Good luck on Saturday.
*****
To Mr. Suave Josh Aero and Marko Estrada :
If you guys plan on cracking the roster on a permanent basis, you couldn’t ask for a better opportunity than a match against the former IWS Canadian Champions. I should warn you that Player Uno and Stupefied want a shot at getting their belts back as soon as possible and if that means kicking you two repeatedly in the head, that’s a sacrifice that Uno and Stup are prepared to make.
Also do you guys have a team name? You really don’t want me to invent one.
*****
To NOT-A Superstar Shayne Hawke :
Shayne, congratulations I guess. You were able to convince the office not to suspend EXesS for excessive violence after he punched a tooth right out of Jimmy K’s head. So you will be able to tag with EXesS against the New Jersey All Stars. I should warn you that EXesS is on thin ice with the office. There are some grumblings that he has broken the wrestling “code”.
I know that you don’t care about my opinion, but it seems like a lot of effort to go to for a guy who is not exactly the shining example of a good team mate.
On the other hand, you two deserve each other!
*****
To Lucky :
I don’t know if anyone remembers you from your last visits to Quebec two years ago, but the last time you were here, you were GREAT! Look forward to seeing you again!
I should probably warn you, you’re fighting EXesS and Shayne Hawke. Hawke is a nuisance and a pest. EXesS is the crankiest son-of-a-bitch on the face of the earth, stiff as hell and sneaky as a rattle-snake.

I recently did a podcast with a friend of mine, Kevin Marshall of www.KevinMarshallOnline.com
We met on www.the-w.com probably the best wrestling related message board on the net. Kevin and I talked about politics, film, comic books and (eventually) wrestling.
You can download the podcast here:

Let me or Kevin know what you thunk!
I was also a guest recently on Main Event Radio ( www.maineventradio.com ) hosted by Steve Rockamaniak and Ryan Rider. We had a brief debate on the virtues of TNA’s Lockdown PPV as a concept. (I’m not a fan.)
