Can anyone help me? I want to upgrade from my basic Sony Cybershot 3.1 Digital to SLR. I went into Henery's and saw a Nikon D70. Done a bit of looking on the net about it but want to know if anyone has opinons on it or suggestions. I have not used a 35mm in about 12years and the 35mm camera I have is about 20years old and didnt have changable lens. Would the Nikon D70 be a good camera to get for a first time SLR. I know there are lot better ones out there but I dont want to spend over $1000.00. The one I saw was $800.00 and came with a lens

I use a Canon Digital Rebel but I stuck with Canon mainly because I had Canon lenses already. Canon and Nikon are the top two brands in the industry. They're the Coke and Pepsi of photography.
If you don't already have lenses I would say that the Nikon D70 is a great camera and the kit lens that comes with it is better than the kit lens that comes with the Canon. I've played around with the D70 and it does an awesome job. You'll be extremely happy with the D70 in my opinion.

Ok I got the camera today but had to work tonight so was unable to test the camera out, will be doinig that tomorrow. I ended up getting the Nikon D70s instead of the D70 and the only lens I have right now is 18-70mm. I also grabbed a 2gig card to start. I hope this will make for some much better photos for my next GCW event

So I learn a nice lesson last night..... NEVER, and I mean NEVER assume that you charged the battery, check it before leaving the house, lol. The battery died on my last night during the Cherry Bomb match. I did not get any of Johnny's match. I cant wait to get home after work today so I can edit some of those pics I posted. Anyways it was good talking to you Emanuel, hopefully next time we can chat longer and I can get some pointers from you. Thank you.

A second battery is a very worthwhile investment too. We'll chat more for sure, it was nice talking with you last night.
