INTERNATIONAL INVASION
Collingwood Curling Club
Collingwood, Ontario
Announcer for the evening: Commissioner 'Candi'
Referees: Senior Official Dave Dread, Eddington James, and special guest ref Phil Latio.
Featuring a tournament to crown the 1st ever Ring Wars Cruiserweight Champion, Tournament matches are as noted.
First match was a qualifying match for the Cruiserweight Title tournament that pitted Sensei Hiroshima against Ash. Very solid for an opening match, that saw Ash come out on top and advance after reversing a suplex into a small package for the pin.
Next up, 'Impact' Eddie Osbourne faced newcomer Virgil Mac (son of longtime journeyman wrestler 'Big Mac') in the 2nd qualifier match in the tournament. Mac gave it all he had in this one, but Osbourne nailed Mac with an inverted kryptonite crunch to come out on top.
Jake O'Reilley, who made an impressive showing against 'Hacksaw' Jim Duggan last month in Collingwood; faced off against Thorn in a match that featured mat wrestling, high flying work, and a little bit of brawling on the outside as well. The end came when Thorn hit Jake with a senton bomb followed by the pin.
Two favourites from last months show faced off in the next match, which was a Cruiserweight Title Tournament match, as Crazzy Steve locked up with Warhed. These guys really had the crowd on their side and put on a solid match that saw Warhed walk away with the victory after nailing Steve with a flatliner for the pin.
The next tournament match saw two guys who actually started out in training in the same class back in 2001; Hornet and Mikey Madrox, face off against one another. Madrox, who has gone through a drastic personality change since losing the 'Psychopathic' gimmick a few months back; actually used Hornets trunks for leverage as he rolled him up to get the pin and win over Hornet.
After intermission, a FATAL 4-WAY elimination match was held to crown the first ever Ring Wars Cruiserweight Champion. Ash, Eddie Osbourne, Warhed and Mikey Madrox had an excellent showing that got alot of vocal fan support. Ash was able to eliminate Osbourne first after an enzaguri at about the 10 minute mark, followed by Madrox taking away Ash's chance to become champ less than two minutes later after delivering a panic attack. This left Warhed and Madrox to continue their longtime feud, with the winner to be crowned the first CW champ. Warhed had his trademark STOP sign and a chair handy, and they came in to play as the crowd came to its feet several times during this match up that eventually seen Mikey hit Warhed with a completely sick looking reverse hurricanrana to finally put Warhed away to become the 1st ever Ring Wars Crusierweight Champion!!!
Next up, it was a historic match-up as Joe E. Legend wrestled his last match on North American soil prior to his move to Germany this coming Tueasday, as Legend challenged National Champion George Terzis to a title match. Legend cut a classic promo before this match that had alot of the crowd on their feet bantering back and forth with Joe. Once Joe hit the ring, George, looking more confident than I have ever seen him, made his way down to the ring to defend the National Title. This match was PPV quality all the way: chain wrestling, shoot, some aerial work - definitely a strong outing for both guys. The end came after Notoroius T.I.D. came down to assist Legend, and three times it looked like Tid's interference had won Legend the title. George kicked out at 2 3/4 each time, and Legend continued to try to wear George down. At one point, Terzis applied his patented reverse dragon sleeper; which had Legend tapping - but Tid had distracted the referee and George letting go to go after Tid broke up that victory attempt. Finally, after Legend putting on the brakes from running into Tid on the ring apron and Dave Dread doing eveything he could to maintain order; George hit the ropes full throttle and dropkicked Legend head on into Tid - knocking Tid flying onto the floor, and allowing George to roll up a dazed Legend for the 1,2 3.
After the match, Legend put George Terzis over as a great Champion to represent Ring Wars.
Next up was the main event. Notorious T.I.D. came back out and cut a promo reminding eveyone that he was undefeated in over a year, and had left a pile of broken bodies behind him. The speculation as to who would face Tid in the cage grew, and Tid made it known there was NOBODY who could defeat him. As Tid made the final challenge, the Human Punisher from Venice Beach California, all 305 pounds of the monster MAGNUS, came out to face the challenge! Tid was visibly shocked, as the long history of battles, as well as teaming success, with Magnus was evident. Their last encounter when they split as a team only weeks before in Orangeivlle was fresh on both mens minds, and they locked it up hard and heavy right from the start. Magnus suffered a broken hand almost at the start of this match that affected his offence slightly, but he and Tid battled hard early to try and weaken the other. Magnus's arm and head were severely lacerated on the cage as well, and Tid spared nothing going after Magnus as hard as he could. After a huge double knockdown, Tid headed for the fence to try and climb out of the cage. Magnus, who Tid thought was out cold, began to rise up as Tid started to ascent the cage. It was a race to the finish as both guys bravely, and groggily, tried to hit the floor first. With the roar of the very vocal crowd behind him, Magnus was able to break Tids undefeated streak by sliding out the door face-first onto the floor for the win
