Can anyone tell me why we fans in London went from having two competing indy feds to watch in 1999 to having to wait for the WWE to show up once or twice a year and not having an indy show in town since 2001?
I know that there are probably plenty of "backstage" reasons why the HWF and UCW died out but I think if the WWE feels that enough fans will show up to the JLC to have Raw and Smackdown broadcasts, you would think that some indy promoter might think that he could run a decent show in one of the high schools or community centres around town. (Hint! Hint!)
I remember going to indy shows and there was usually a pretty good turn out, at least to my untrained eye. Is that a thing of the past or is it a case where London wrestling fans have de-evolved into such marks that unless the WWE shows up with promises of Triple H or John Cena or the Rock that no one will go out to wrestling shows in big enough number?

I agree with you even though I am going to Raw here and taking my son it has cost me $95 for 2 tickets. I would take my son to a indy show evry week or month or when ever they ran a show. I for appreciate watching indy wrestler work because I know guys like The Rock, Cena Flair HHH and everyone else started out in a ondy fed somewhere and my son being 6 would know the difference if a indy guy blew a spot or not, he just like watching wrestling period. Someone bring a fed to London we are starved for wrestling.

You could always do what I do and drive to another city. Chatham isn't too far away from London and there's an event there on July 3rd.
Hamilton would be an hour drive. Hell, I drove 2 and a half hours thursday night to see RingWars in Collingwood. I'm not saying i deserve a medal or a cookie just stating my opinion.
I guess it all depends on how badly you want to watch indy wrestling

True we could travel but what about those of us who don't have a car. Plus a promoter could make some $$$$ if he brought a event here.

Ken, promoters can't make money running shows anywhere. If you knew the operating costs, you'd be astonished. The boys barely get paid, the promoter might break even. It's mostly cuz dummies will save their $100 for tix to WWE twice a year instead of supporting local guys who they could eventually cheer on the WWE stage.
