Fri Apr 9, Kingston Ont
CIWA GAZETTE
This past Friday the superstars of CIWA wrestling made their debut in Kingston at the Ironhorse Tavern. A stellar and rambunctious crowd was on hand to witness 7 big matches, including a tag team title defense and the crowning of a new CIWA Champion.
Match #1: Flex Falcone vs Sean Spears
This was a tremendous cruiserweight match-up. Sean Spears was quite upset with the “Britney Spears” chant he was receiving throughout the match. Tragically at the end of the bout, Flex Falcone came flying off the top rope and dislocated his elbow. He was able to get the 1..2..3.. before he realized the enormity of his injury. We wish Flex a speedy recovery!
Winner: Flex Falcone
Match #2: “Big Ticket” Reggie Marley vs JC Owens
The Kingston ON crowd was excited to hear that Reggie hailed from Kingston, but the pop he received changed to boos when they realized it was Kingston Jamaica. Reggie didn’t really know how to lock up with the behemoth from Montreal. Instead, to mock JC, Reggie stole a fans plate of onion rings, offering them to JC. Surprisingly JC accepted the gift and made quick work of the fried food in front of him. Enough game playing for Reggie as he locked up with JC and the match was underway. Reggie used his technical mastery (and cheating ways) to eventually score a win over JC Owens.
Winner: “Big Ticket” Reggie Marley
Match #3: “Outlaw” Scott Chase vs TJ Harley
This match was originally to be Chase vs Crimson Mask, however Crimson called the CIWA office earlier in the week canceling as he was double booked that evening. He had a child’s birthday party to host at Chuck E Cheese. Chase, accompanied by his injured tag team partner Tyrant Eric Dawson, made quick work of the youngster. TJ gave it all he had, but fell victim to the double team from the Texas Hellrazors.
Winner: “Outlaw” Scott Chase
Match #4: “Impact” Eddie Osborne vs Phil Latio
CIWA Commissioner Jody Jenkins came out to insult the good people of Kingston once again as well as inform the crowd of how much he hated Eddie’s manager “The Sport” Jesse Jones. Jenkins had something planned special for the duo. Jenkins grabbed ring announcer Gentleman Geoff’s cue cards, but couldn’t figure out how to read them. After a very lackluster into, he announced the opponent, the man he brought in specially for this match…a special friend from his university days… Phil Latio! The Kingston ON crowd did not know what to make of Phil. Phil was quite upset as he couldn’t find any gay bars. He was quite enamored by a gentleman sitting ringside with a cane though. Jody Jenkins kept getting involved in the match and this was too much for Jesse Jones as he stormed in the ring to take down his nemesis. Official Justin Cousineau quickly lost control of the match and called for the bell.
Winner: Double Disqualification
Match #5 – HIGHLANDERS vs Magnificent Matthew and George Terzis
TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH
Champions Highlanders came into the ring quite confident they would be declared victorious. Although they had never faced the combination of Matthew and Terzis in a CIWA ring, they were not intimidated by the challenge. Terzis and Matthew put on an excellent technical display, but the team work and experience of the Highlanders was too much for them to handle in the end.
Winner: And still CIWA Tag Team Champions – THE HIGHLANDERS
Match #6: Quinson Valentino vs “The Daytona Beach Bad Boy” Jason Cage
The biggest pop of the night was for Kingston’s own Jason Cage. Jason came out to a most vocal hometown and that just further fueled his enthusiasm. Quinson came out with a brand new look, including a shaved head and defined physique. Quinson was determined to put on a wrestling clinic and take the youngster to school in his hometown. Surprisingly enough Jason Cage got the pin with a very fast count!. Quinson was beside himself as he was so shocked at the loss. There has not been a bigger upset since Razor Ramon vs 123 Kid all those years ago! This is definitely not over.
Winner: “The Daytona Beach Bad Boy” Jason Cage
Match #7: Completely Cody Steele vs The Hacker
CIWA TITLE MATCH
Commissioner Jenkins earlier in the evening stripped CIWA champ Ruffy Silverstein of the belt since Ruffy was working a series of dates in Mexico and could not defend his belt in Kingston that evening. Jenkins had decided that Steele was worthy of a title shot and he gave in to the incessant begging of Hacker to make him Steele’s opponent. To say this was a see-saw battle would be an understatement. Both competitors dished out their best offense but could not put the other away. The crowd was definitely behind the Hacker, and that fueled him to numerous comebacks. In the end, Cody distracted the ref while Jody Jenkins knocked Hacker out cold with a belt shot.
Winner: NEW CIWA Champion - Completely Cody Steele
