So I had this argument with a bunch of friends the other day and I ended up asking quite a few people about this subject. If you were on a first date, like say you were going to the movies, and were looking to grab a bite to eat afterwards...would you take a girl to Dennys on a first date? Personally I find nothing wrong with it, but a lot of people tell me that the place you usually take a girl out to eat shows the kind of girl she is, so if she's a Denny's kind of girl, then you might not think much of her, compared to say a Montana's or The Keg type of girl. It's not like Dennys is in the same class as McDonalds or Wendys or anything, it's still a sitdown place, where you can order drinks, and still in a casual atmosphere...it's not high class, but at the same time, it's not overly stuffy. I'm really curious to see the type of answers I'll get on here, especially since this is a Wrestling board, and Denny's is usually the spot to hit up after a show So if there are any girls that post on here (workers included...) input is appreciated...since most guys probably wouldn't care as much about this type of thing, especially if we're usually paying 99.9% of the time

Barely. If I am just looking for some play and don't really care about the broad, then Denny's will do. But, unless you are in high school or your name is Cletus, you don't bring a girl you are actually trying to impress to Denny's. Montana's is no better. In fact, don't go to any chain restaurant. Drop a $100 and go to upscale place. You don't even have to drop that much to go to a decent place. But, for Christ's sake, not Denny's.

If you're starving at 3am and need a place - Denny's is fine... but not a first date
A first date is an interview ... time to make an impression ... if you choose Denny's to make your impression, MOST women will not be too thrilled.
If $$ is an issue, then hit one of the mid-market chains like Kelsey's or East Side or Red Lobster .... Denny's menu is nasty and the place is a dump.

I agree that with the other posters that going to Denny's as a first date may not be as good a choice as some of the other posters mentioned.
However, if it is going to be after a movie or some other type of activity, it could be fine. You could always try asking the lady in question what her preference would be. Get a list of a few places that fit your budget range and then ask if she has a preference. Work it in to the conversation. Mention your plans at the start of the date and see what she has to say.
If you don't want to ask her, then I would err on the side of caution and go with one of the other places mentioned.

If any chick asked me to bring her to Denny's, she wouldn't be getting a call back.
I would probably still fuck her, but no call back.

I think Dennys is a sh*t place PERIOD! I know breakfast wise that is fu*king costly! I've been a few times with friends, but I think price wise its no different then your Kelsey's, East side Mario's, Montana's type places. I guess in my opinion Denny's has the rep of a sh*t hole to most people, so in many ways your taking the girl to a sh*t hole. So I agree with the people on this board.........DON'T DO IT ! If its late and your options limited then its ok, but when you can have pick of the litter and you select Denny's its a mistake.
Keg, Canyon Creek are nice places and Canyon Creek has a price fix menu.......something to consider and its a nice vibe inside.

Allan: I think the question warrants another question: "Are you hoping to fuck the girl at the end of the night" If you are, Denny's won't win you brownie points, and will pretty much seal your fate.

Make it a Saturday afternoon date and take her to Costco when they have lots of free samples . Then splurge for a hot dog on the way out.

See, I didn't realize that Dennys has such a bad rep amongst most of you...especially guys...since it seems like a 'guy's hangout' to hit up, especially if your just hungry and you really don't care where you go or how a place looks, as long as you get more then enough to eat for what you pay for...and I think that's what Denny's is without boarding on a buffet type place.
But the thing is, I don't think Dennys isn't AS bad compared to many fast food restaurants, or even the quality compared to other not so well known places. It just seems to me that Jack Astor's, Boston Pizza, a lot of these chain places have the same type of food, outside of Dennys having a breakfast menu.
Your still looking at between $15-20 for your meal at Dennys which is no different then any of those places I mentioned (not including Steak houses...like Montana's or The Keg.)
It's casual dining, I just didn't think the rep for the place would be as bad as some of you made it out to be...I never took a girl there on a first date, but it never came across my mind to think it was such a horrible place to go too. Yeah, you gotta have impress and all that, but that's what having a sitdown dinner can do, regardless of where you are...and if it's really late and you just got out of a movie, there really isn't a better place to go too after midnight.
I can say that the service you get that late in the night would probably be much better if your one of the few tables there, and waitresses are looking for higher tips.
Most of the Dennys I've been to in Canada are kept fairly well, don't know if I can say the same in the states, since any time I've been there, truckers or kids who are really high or drunk find their way there.

Dude... you answered your own question ...
Denny's is a place guys will go to when they're hanging wth the guys and they're just hungry and wanna eat....
Their food is horrible....
I'm really hard on restaurant quality food, but all of the mid-market family chains are better.
I'd say you'd be better off actually hittin a Mcdonalds ... cuz some girls like McD's ... as long as you asked her if she was cool ... but VERY few like Dennys...
