I used to like BJ Penn, but lost a lot of respect after all the whining he did when got his ass handed to him against GSP in his most recent loss to the Canadian champ. But after this article, fuck him and anything he does in the future. I can't believe he actually has the balls to say things like he does anymore.
I especially love this gem from a recent interview at Yahoo! that you can find here - ca.sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=AqVsE8QhisYHKqD1us5rBjI9Eo14?slug=ki-penn080509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
He says, and I quote:
“It’s just my opinion that he uses steroids,” Penn said. “That’s it. My opinion. I do believe it. I can’t hand you any proof, but that’s my opinion.”
In an earlier conversation on the topic, Penn said, “In my opinion, he doesn’t play by the rules when it comes to steroids and growth hormones and that stuff. Look at him. He’s the worst. He looks like that every day. That’s cheating. There is a reason why there are rules against using steroids. The rest of us, we get fat, then we train and get skinny and the cycle goes over and over again. He looks the same way all the time. Come on.”
Seriously, get over it. You lost. Move on. Any credibility you had left is now shot. You just made a completely unsubstantiated accusation that you have no hope in hell of proving. I wouldn't be surprised if GSP and his camp sued him for slander after this, although knowing GSP he'll probably shrug it off being the class act he is.
As far as the "proof" that GSP doesn't ever "change" and always is in shape, it's called dedicated training. Try it some time Penn. Maybe then you might be relevant again. This is just another stain on what was once a great career.
Penn claims he would have retired had he beaten GSP. I think he should consider doing it regardless. Hopefully, Florian will wipe the cage with him, take the Lightweight title, and send BJ off into the sunset.
