Sorry I meant to post it but I forgot. It was a very close fight Lashley won in a decision. At one point Guida had a guillotine choke but Lashley escaped.

After watching the first round, does Lashley not seem to understand the whole push/pull principal at all?
Also, I think MMA in a ring, now that most of us are used to the cage thing, is very gay... those fucking ropes muck up half the fight...

I agree they do plus the cage adds another dimension to a fight.

Lashley still has a lot of work to do.... but seeing as I was an avid watcher of Pride, and having watched the 2 Affliction PPV's... if a MMA fighter is used to fighting in a ring, then it isn't an issue.

Might not be an issue, but the fight would sure as hell be better if they didnt have those stupid ropes getting in the way... maybe if they were a tad tighter or something.. fuck... And what I meant about Lashley has nothing to do with MMA, or training for MMA... its the most basic principal in wrestling... the natural human reaction when someone pushes you is to push back... this is when you have the opportunity to take advantage of their strength and use it to your advantage by switching things up and pulling, using a whizzer or hip toss, any kind of takedown really... I just found these two were constantly trying to outmuscle each other... neither played smart... and the saddest part of that is that Lashley didnt even dominate... Before I go, I want to say I like Lashley... a lot... I just wonder sometimes what the months and months leading up to a show like this are spent doing...

could you please explain why this "push pull" comes into play when one wrestler is obviously stronger than the other. i'm just curious, you must have an extensive amateur background, to make such an astute comment regarding a guy who is a proven commodity. please explain, i'll sit under the learning tree...

It comes into play for two reasons in this case... 1) Its not like Lashley ran roughshod over Guida. He was struggling quite a bit at some points. Any advantage that can be taken SHOULD, right? 2) For someone who is "obviously stronger", didnt you find Lashley had a lot of trouble getting Guida off his feet? And "proven commodity"? He's had two fights, one of which was stopped before he could show any kind of ability. Granted, in that :41 he did great. Dont think Im carving on Lashley or dont like the guy. Hes a juiced up dude, who is actually representing the biz in another sport. I just found it odd that he had such a tough time getting Guida to the ground and thought he would have tried more often.

Hammer is right I do have a wrestling background and for him to be trying to go Godzilla on him like that was a waste of his energy
