They got in both because of vote splitting and the Liberals were decimated in the West.I predict another election late 09-early 2010.The Liberals are going to dump Dion as party leader,by their national convention in May,if not before.

I think the next election will be further away then that. The federal Liberal Party is almost bankrupt and the cost of another leadership race + another federal election would put tremendous strain on their finances. Keep in mind, that candidates from the last Liberal leadership race are still paying off their debts from that race.
I think the Tories will try and govern for as long as they can with this minority in hopes of riding out the economic shitstorm.

I predict that once the Liberals get a new leader,particularly if they get one that resonated with the voting public,their fundraising efforts will go into overdrive.However You're correct in Your assessment that the Liberals right now are in no shape.Elizabeth May is also not looking particularly strong right now either.
