New School vs. Old School / First Time Ever !!!!!!!!!! There is a reason why this is the first match we chose to announce for our debut event "Inception" on Sunday, October 28 @ E-Zone in Toronto (Etobicoke), Ontario. These two fighters embody what Smash Wrestling is all about and that is men and women who have the will to go beyond 100%. Despite the differences in age, background, and style, these two exhibit the same kind of passion and drive towards the sport of professional wrestling. It is that very passion that will push these two men to prove whether old school is still cool or if the new school has a step up on some of professional wrestling's finest veterans. In this first time ever bout you have the charismatically fan adored "Hacker" Scotty O'Shea. A man who was once labeled as too young, too small and too inexperienced only to overcome all that and appropriately become a talent that is nothing less than too valuable. O'Shea boasts an impressive hybrid style of high fly and striking that leaves audiences and peers alike in awe. What impresses most is his "do or die" style that seems too calculating and successful to have such a tag. Whether it is his speed or his mental alertness, O'Shea seems more often than not to be one step ahead of his opponents. As a result, he has been crowned with gold, won notable rivalries and is continuing to show up as a headliner amongst wrestling's finer promotions. There is no doubt that amongst an impressive lineup of talents that Smash Wrestling aims to provide, a talent like O'Shea will settle for nothing less than the top spot. In the end, when Scotty O'Shea steps into a ring the one certainty is that the fans will always get their moneys worth. Across the ring from everyone's favourite computer nerd will stand the measuring bar himself, "Textbook" Tyson Dux. If there is one man that pro wrestlers across Canada strive to compete against it's Dux. When going into a match with the experienced cyborg, competitors physically and mentality prepare for their biggest challenge ever. Over the course of past years we have athletes immediately breaking into the scene as hot commodities or becoming main eventers after stepping into the ring with Dux. The track record speaks for itself and rightly so as Dux was the best unsigned wrestler in Canada and arguably North America at one point. We say "was" because Dux's schedule, quality of opponents and ability to absorb a high level of punishment caught up to him nearly two years ago. Physically and mentally he wasn't the same man and nearly retired from the sport. However, Dux quoted himself to us as a new man over the past year and said he is the healthiest he has ever been since the early days of his accomplished career. And it has shown. The well traveled veteran who incorporated a Japanese-style to his sound and technical arsenal has evolved yet again adding new submissions and an unpredictable style that resembles the old school British style of wrestling. O'Shea's biggest challenge on October 28 is Dux's drive to be at his absolute best. Despite being on top of the mountain many times, Dux always strives to improve and evolve on a daily basis. The result will be pure magic and a win for either talent could mean so much more than another number on the win column. This is new school vs. old school at it's best. Styles will clash. Psychologies will counter each other like a seasoned chess match. And a win can mean so much more for each competitor's respective generation as the Ontario wrestling scene's finest blue chippers are bordering the edge of breaking in as the new faces of the province. Quite frankly, it may just come down to a battle of mental wills between these men. The survival of the fittest training and atmosphere that was common in Dux's earlier days isn't around anymore and it's something that may give Dux the edge in mental toughness. He is a dying breed and "Textbook" is a teacher that is tough to be bested by any student of the game. Then again, O'Shea career has been defined by overcoming the odds and being unpredictable. We hope that the Smash Wrestling fans are as eager to see this one as much our talents and staff are. It will surely be one that will set the bar for "Inception"!

Battle of the High Flyers / First Time Ever !!!!!!!!!!At first glance, this match looks like it's all or nothing for Brent Banks. So much to gain yet so much to lose pending a victory or defeat. The fan favourite has a big challenge ahead of himself on Sunday, October 28 at E-Zone in Toronto (Etobicoke), Ontario but there's more to this match than one would think. For Brent, yes, this match does mean everything. However, the same can be said for Cross. Let's take a look at both fighters and what is to be expected when Smash Wrestling presents "Inception". On one side of the ring you have "The All-Starter" Brent Banks. A young and accomplished superstar whose rise to the top of the Ontario wrestling scene doesn't seem to have any functioning brakes. Banks is capitalizing well with his momentum as proven by his Adrenaline Cup victory in this Squared Circle Wrestling's annual tournament and winning over the Chikara die-hards with his appearance at their Toronto show, "Green Ice". That doesn't even include his success in prominent promotions across the province, all which reside in hotbed cities for pro wrestling. At "Inception", Brent needs a victory more than ever as besting some of Eastern Canada's finest is no longer a new achievement for him. His opportunity is presented in one of America's most seasoned and well respected veterans. A win over Cross will surely solidify him not only as a main eventer but as a top tier unrestricted free agent in the North American wrestling scene. Standing across from Banks will be none other than M-Dogg 20 aka Matt Cross. His resume speaks for himself as the Cleveland State University graduate is an accomplished gymnast with gold medals in the American Junior Olympics. The internationally traveled veteran has also won wrestling gold in well over a dozen promotions and has main evented against a who's who of professional wrestlers. This includes appearances in elite promotions such as Ring of Honor, Chikara, Wrestling Society-X, IWA Mid South, CZW, competing of WWE's Tough Enough and not to mention travels to Europe and Japan. However, to Canadian fans Cross is better known for his days with UWA where he made waves with his sometimes ally and sometimes foe, Josh Prohibition. A victory over Banks does not only make the statement that Cross is still on par with Canada's finest competitors but also gives him an opportunity to make some noise on the Canadian scene. This could very well result in Cross once again being a regular name north of the border. These two accomplished high flyers bring so much more to the table than impressive move-sets that defy gravity. In fact, both share similar qualities upon a closer look. Banks seems to mirror Cross' younger days breaking onto the scene amongst the elite promotions, both as a singles and tag team performer. While Cross succeeded as one half of Youthanazia with Josh Prohibition, Banks has done the same with his old partner Johnny J and now as one half of the Steady Ballers with Alex Vega. As well, both were trained at respectful schools with Cross under the tutelage of JT Lighting at Cleveland Pro Wrestling and Banks with Rob Fuego at Squared Circle Training. It is the quality in training that has allowed both these athletes to develop versatile styles. Cross has developed a wide repertoire that continuously grows as he travels the world with such moves as his springboard double foot stomp or a variation of splashes that can be hit from anywhere. As for Banks, opponents are always challenged to focus on his high flying abilities yet have to keep an eye open for his fluid lucha libre arsenal and his innovative pins. More noticeable with Smash management is the fact that Brent Banks has become a solid striker over the past year. Much of this has to be accredited to his many fights with the likes of Michael Elgin, Josh Alexander and Tyson Dux. If for any reason Cross is to underestimate Banks he is best to seek a second opinion from the above mentioned superstars. That said both opponents can win the match at anytime and in many ways, it may not come down to Cross' shooting star vs. Banks' standing slice bread. Then again, it just might. Come Sunday, October 28 @ "Inception", both men have something to prove to the Canadian wrestling scene. In our humble opinion, picking a winner will be as easy as picking heads or tails.

Hard Hitting Warfare !!!!!!!! Fighters come in all shapes and sizes. Nowadays, you can't judge a book by it's cover. On any given night you can get your butt handed to you by a pretty boy, geek or the shy guy. Gone are the days of the one-dimensional stereotype of a big bad wolf. So it seems at least. There are some that still embody that no-nonsense, hard hitting, eye for an eye lifestyle. These men are far and few between. Even more rare are men like "Unbreakable" Michael Elgin and Mathieu St. Jacques who come as tough as you can find and are far from one-dimensional. Those who are familiar with either of these talents can attest that it's near impossible to catch either of these men with a smile in the ring. Once they step into the squared circle, it is all business. They simply don't build them like this anymore! The results speak for themselves. First up, you have a man who has arguably been the most successful and dominating force to come out of Ontario in quite some time. The Ring of Honor standout made his way into the company with a blue collar work ethic that earned the respect of fans and peers alike. We're not talking about Michael Elgin busting his ass in Ontario. This man traveled North America and put himself on the map. With all his travels he seasoned himself at such a young age wrestling the best in the world. The hard work has clearly paid off as he became a rookie standout in ROH and in a short time earned himself a title shot against Davey Richards at ROH's "Showdown in the Sun". Not only was this match considered by many the match of the year but a match that pushed Richards' to new limits. You see, what makes Elgin dangerous is that failure makes him a hungry man. Ever since losing to Richards he has been on a mission. This gifted power-lifter with unusual agility is surely to show up to Smash Wrestling bigger, badder, better. Across from Elgin will stand a man that he himself has spoken highly about. In truth, this is part of the reason that we at Smash Wrestling chose to put these men across from each other. Respect is everything to guys like Elgin and he doesn't vouch for just anyone. The similarities are there and the passion is surely there as well. A fighter like St. Jacques could very well be heading down the same path as someone like Michael Elgin. All he needs is an opportunity and he will get just that come Sunday, October 28 at "Inception". St. Jacques is more prepared than ever as the Quebec standout has been making his presence felt in his province and across Eastern Ontario. He has an opportunity to continue with that very momentum and to send a message to Elgin as on September 14 he will face Tyson Dux for C4 Wrestling in Ottawa. A victory over Dux could very well send the perfect message to Elgin and another victory over Elgin will undoubtedly put St. Jacques on the map not only in Canada but in the United States as well. Come "Inception" this one will be a hard hitting contest that will make even the toughest of men and women cringe. Pride will be on the line and each man's hunger will be tested. These fearless brawlers are sure to surprise many with their well-rounded individuals skill set. Will Michael Elgin continue to be the dominant force that he is or will Mathieu St. Jacques break out of the Eastern Canadian scene with a bang? The only way to find out is to be live at Smash Wrestling's "Inception on Sunday, October 28 @ E-Zone in Toronto (Etobicoke), Ontario.

A Clash of Unpredictability / First Time Ever !!!!!!! Unlike most of our matches this one may be hard to assess for many of our fans. This match will feature two athletes relatively unknown to the Southern Ontario wrestling scene. By no means does this mean that these athletes aren't capable or on par with the rest of the roster. Far from it! You see, as much as Smash Wrestling intends on providing quality to the fans, we also want to provide something "different". The Smash Wrestling alternative is proud to feature in this bout two up and coming superstars who are creating quite the buzz in both their respective territories. First up, you have Tadarius Thomas who just recently made his debut with Ring of Honor. Hailing from Detroit, Michigan, this hybrid superstar is a well conditioned professional wrestler with plenty of experience in other combat sports. Thomas has been fighting for nearly 11 years with international experience in mixed martial arts, boxing and submission wrestling. This makes Thomas a very dangerous opponent as he can customize his offense based on the style of opponent he is facing and even switch it up if one type of offense isn't working for him. Thomas is sure to make for an unpredictable opponent! His rival for the night is none other than "Dirty" Buxx Belmar. If there's someone who can give Tadarius Thomas a run for his money in the unpredictability category it is the cigarette chewing lunatic out of Montreal, Quebec. Don't let Belmar's odd appearance fool you for he is a very talented athlete. The young superstar who was originally trained by Jacques Rougeau continued to polish his talents with the nCw Cobra Dojo. At just under six feet tall, Belmar shows flashes of high fly combined with an aggressive offense that can incorporate a variety of suplexes. Early accomplishments of his include winning the 2006 nCw Lion's Cup. However, it is over the past year that Belmar has started to make a case for himself in Eastern Canada with notably impressive outings for C4 Wrestling and a solid appearance for Chikara during their "Foggiest Notion" event in Strathroy, Ontario. Without a doubt this will be a match that will appeal to many as it involves two young and exciting new talents that intend on making an impression in what may be their only appearance. Surely a win could make a good case to reject that notion. With that said this could undoubtedly be a dark horse pick to steal the show. Two amazing and, once again, unpredictable talents step into the ring on Sunday, October 28 at the E-Zone in Toronto (Etobicoke), Ontario. The results will be just that, unpredictable!

Breakout Stars Collide / First Time Ever !!!!!!! For our fifth match announcement we at Smash Wrestling proudly offer the pairing of "The Handicapped Hero" Gregory Iron vs. John Greed. This match presents two guys with a lot of momentum in their back pockets; however, the years of experience between these two athletes is far apart. While John Greed is a rookie looking to add another notable accomplishment to his first year, Iron carries six years of experience under his belt. In the eyes of many that should and very well could give Iron the edge but that might not be the case come Sunday, October 28 at Smash Wrestling's Inception. John Greed is an intimidating competitor who has developed a killer instinct at an early stage of his young career. Those fierce and focus eyes of his isn't something you would expect out of a rookie. Nevertheless, Greed's got it and it may partially be attributed to his battles with Ontario stand outs such as Robbie MacAllister, Sebastian Suave, Brent Banks and Tyson Dux. Most notable of all would be his fight with Tyson Dux at Squared Circle Wrestling's "Pros vs. Joes II" event which immediately drew the respect of many. This list would include Dux himself who shook Greed's hand after a 23 minute barn burner that ended up in a double disqualification. It's absurd to call a match this early in someone's career a breakout match but Greed drew the attention of many since and is ever improving match-by-match. Across the ring from Greed will stand none other than the beloved fan favourite, Gregory Iron. The "Handicapped Hero" is an inspiration to many as he is living his dream despite the obstacles he had to encounter. Iron was diagnosed at birth with cerebral palsy which left his right arm extremely limited in motion. Not only did Iron have to deal with a lot of bullying at school but also spent part of his childhood dealing with many other obstacles that he proudly overcame. This courageous young man is living his dream as a wrestler and has progressed impressively at the gym despite his disability. For Iron there aren't excuses, only solutions! This never-die attitude has resulted in Iron partaking in a successful feud with Johnny Gargano and winning gold in single's and tag divisions. To top it all off, on July 23, 2011, WWE superstar C.M. Punk made an appearance after one of Iron's matches to praise Iron's heart and passion. We at Smash Wrestling would like to give you two good reasons to come to the Inception event and they both happen to be in this match up. The first reason is to jump on the John Greed bandwagon early and not miss out. It is already a pleasure to watch this young man practice his craft and improve match-by-match. Like him or not, his work ethic is tough to match as this rookie has already traveled to the likes of Sudbury, Timmins, Ottawa, Montreal, Michigan, Ohio, Indianapolis, and West Virginia. All for the sake of experience. That is what we at Smash Wrestling like to call passion! The second reason to come to Inception is to see Gregory Iron live. Every time this man steps into a ring it is a victory. It is a reminder to the rest of us that "can't" is just a word. It also doesn't hurt that you're getting one hell of a talented competitor while you're at it! Sunday, October 28 at the E-Zone in Toronto (Etobicoke), Ontario, come see this first time match up between two guys who do not understand the concept of a glass ceiling.

Tag Team Special Attraction / First Time Ever !!!!!!! Tag team wrestling became an immediate priority for us at Smash Wrestling. It is a dynamic division that a lot of us grew up watching passionately. Despite the downfall in the division, it has slowly been on the rise and notably here in Southern Ontario with the likes of many great teams. However, for our first event not only did we find two talented teams but two that the Southern Ontario fans may have not had the privilege of watching live. On one end, you have the Canadian-born Chikara standouts of Shane Matthews and Scott "Jagged" Parker, collectively known as 3.0. These two men are fan favourite in any building they walk into. Their success has been well documented in the province of Quebec and for Chikara in the United States. Across from them will be two men who have only teamed at one event thus far yet created a lot of buzz while doing so. Those men are "Ronin" Josh Alexander and "Iron Lion" Sebastian Suave who went by the name of VIP. With all due respect to the team of Alexander and Suave, 3.0 needs no introduction. These two have established themselves as one of the finer tag teams across North America competing for the likes of Chikara, Combat Zone Wrestling, International Wrestling Syndicate, IWA-MS, Pro Wrestling Guerilla, UWA Hardcore Wrestling, wXw, C4 Wrestling, Inter Species Wrestling, and Big Japan Pro Wrestling amongst others. With notables feuds all over North America and a comedic flavour to their style of wrestling the team of 3.0 is not only adored but also respected by the wrestling fan base. While other teams are identified by their similarities in styles such as high fly or brawling, 3.0 flourishes as a team largely in part to their incredible chemistry as a team. These two are well seasoned veterans of the tag team game and have developed a great sense of timing and ring awareness between the two. This factor makes it very difficult even for the best of them to work their way out of trouble when competing against the charismatic duo. Canadian fans may have had one glimpse of 3.0 on Canadian soil as they won their main event match against match against Team F.I.S.T. at Chikara's Green Ice (their debut event in Canada) in the Spring of 2012 to become the new Campeones de Parejas. Across from them will be the team that went by the name of VIP during their first and only match as a team. Wether they will be appearing as VIP or not is still a mystery to us at Smash Wrestling; however, what is not a mystery to us is the potential these two have as a team. Despite the fact that they teamed only once for the now defunct EWA, these two talented athletes worked very well cohesively. During that encounter they were very well coordinated and were able to hit several innovative tag team maneuvers. Something that is unheard of from a first time tag team. However, this should not come off as a surprise as Alexander and Suave are very close friends. In fact, it was Alexander who took Suave under his wing during his rookie year and since then they have been close friends. These two have gone on record to stating that they train together, they workout together and, of course, frequently travel together. Another interesting note to make is that unlike most tag teams, these two have wrestled each other numerous times. It is the competitive nature of these two that not only drives them to best each other but also to bring out the best in each other. Come Sunday, October 28 at the E-Zone in Toronto (Etobicoke), Ontario, Smash Wrestling will offer a stellar card featuring many note worthy matches such as Scotty O'Shea vs. Tyson Dux, Matt Cross vs. Brent Banks, Michael Elgin vs. Mathieu St. Jacques and more. Without a doubt, this is yet another one to keep your eyes on! Tag team wrestling is about to get a big boost here in Ontario as both these teams are coming in on a mission. 3.0 is looking to follow up on their previous success in Ontario for Chikara and the team of Alexander/Suave are ready to make their case on the tag team scene. A win for either team will mean so much and will surely play a vital role in the future of the tag division at Smash Wrestling. One key factor to remember is that Alexander is a heavily decorated single's competitor holding four belts with an additional heavyweight title match coming up for Squared Circle Wrestling. Will Alexander be 100% focused and committed to tag team wrestling? Afterall, this team's edge does not come from tag team experience but from their abilities to read each others body language very well. If they step into the ring with the likes of 3.0 with anything less than 120%, they will likely be on the losing end of this contest. With that said, get excited! We at Smash Wrestling will not settle for anything less than the best when it comes to tag wrestling and at Inception you are going to get just that.

Women's WrestlingFor our final match announcement Smash Wrestling is proud to present a different flavour from the norm in women's wrestling . At Inception you will see a well-trained newcomer and one of Quebec's most dominant female talents make her return to Southern Ontario. On Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the E-Zone it will be Chrissy Reid versus none other than Vanessa Kraven. First up is newcomer Chrissy Reid. Not much is known about this young talent as she only has a couple matches under her belt. However, in a short time, the Cam-Am Wrestling graduate has shown that she has been well taught by Canadian veteran and Smash Wrestling superstar "Textbook" Tyson Dux. Unlike many rookies, Reid is in great shape and is well-conditioned inside the ring. This comes in addition to the great output she put forth thus far in her first year surprising many with a combination of sound mat skills and some flashes of aerial maneuvers. For Reid, every match offers so much more to gain than to lose and at Inception that's precisely the case. It would be an understatement to say a win over Kraven would not only be an upset but it would also put her on the map as a contender in the Eastern Canadian women's division. Across the ring from Reid is none other than the amazon-like beauty, Vanessa Kraven. The Montreal, Quebec native has had eight successful years in the industry and that can all be accredited to her commitment to quality training. Kraven started out by training under Ron Hutchinson at Sully's Gym in Toronto, Ontario then followed that up with additional training under Zaquary Springate III in the United States. Despite being finely equipped and prepared for a debut match she continued with more training at the NCW wrestling school in Montreal, Quebec. The result? Kraven made her presence successfully felt across North America at such promotions as Blood Sweat & Ears, IWA-Mid South, IWS, NCW, and most impressively with all the elite Japanese joshi promotions. For Reid, this is a big wake up call. It's not just size she's up against. It's experience. Kraven has been in the ring with the likes of Daizee Haze, Mschif, Mickie Knuckles, Tiana Ringer, Jamie D, Yoshiko Tamura, Mayumi Ozaki and Lufisto amongst many other elite talent. With that said it would be ignorant to count Reid out. Her biggest asset is her training as her trainer (Dux) is a well documented "student of the game" despite his many years of experience and his position as one of the best in the country. No pupil of Dux's graduates without developing that studious mentality when entering a match. Reid is sure to soon know Kraven as well as she knows herself. If there's ever an underdog in the women's division who can pull the upset or give a seasoned veteran a run for her money, it would be Chrissy Reid. Come Sunday, October 28, 2012 at the E-Zone, two talents not commonly seen in the Southern Ontario wrestling scene will step into a ring for Smash Wrestling and the fans are sure to be in for a treat!
