Over the past few weeks the Smash Wrestling team has been humbled by the positive feedback and buzz we have received in regards to the talents and matches we have put together for our debut event. It will always be our intention to provide wrestling fans with a unique alternative while committing to quality within the ring. With that said, over the past 48 hours we have received some unfortunate news from a couple of our talents. Rather than hide the facts until the day of attendance, we have decided to keep our fans up-to-date with these changes for two primary reason. 1) To maintain our integrity through honesty and respect for the fans 2) To give the fans the right to know what they are EXACTLY spending their money on
Although none of these last minute changes are as a result of actions or a lack of by the Smash Wrestling team, we offer our sincere apology to any fan who may find the changes upsetting. Please keep in mind that management has tirelessly attempted to not only find replacements but replacements that would be deemed equal or of better value. Short changing the fans was not an option! Being last minute, the majority of high-end talents have commitments to other promotions. With that said, here are the changes to the "Inception" card with their explanations.
Michael Elgin Out: Unfortunately, we found out earlier today that Michael's scheduled flight back will not be coming to Toronto due to a possible miscommunication/error by a third party. Michael is as equally apologetic as we are for this unfortunate situation. Player Uno In: One is better than none! Although the collective duo of the Super Smash Brothers could not be brought to "Inception" we are thrilled to announced that the co-holder of the PWG and 2CW tag team championships is coming to Smash Wrestling. Despite all his tag team success, Uno is not to be counted out as a single's superstar. Over the past two years he has been making his mark as a single's competitor in Eastern Canada and specifically for C4 Wrestling. It is recognized amongst that locker room that a lot of guys have their breakout performances when in single's competition with Player Uno. This was very true for Sebastian Suave, Brent Banks and others. Come Sunday, the 8-bit superstar will be full of fire as he gets to compete in front of the passionate Southern Ontario fans he does not get to see often. New Match: Player Uno vs. Mathieu St. Jacques
Buxx Belmar & Chrissy Reid Out: Both superstars contacted us two days ago letting us know that they will not be attending due to personal reasons that Smash Wrestling will keep private. Just as with the previous match, we are proud to have found replacements that will not disappoint! Alex Vega & Leah Von Dutch In: As a matter of fact, we are particularly excited about Belmar's replacement in Vega. The third year pro has recently been leaving his mark with highly praised bouts with the likes of Tyson Dux, Sebastian Suave and Josh Alexander amongst many others. This explosive talent is clearly not intimidated by anyone and come Sunday the same will go for ROH superstar Tadarius Thomas in what is sure to be a dark horse match for stealing the show. In our featured women's contest Kraven will have her hands full with a fairly new talent who has surprised many in recent months. Von Dutch's commitment to continuous training and getting herself experience is starting to pay off with victories and hard fought battles. New Matches: Alex Vega vs. Tadarius Thomas, Vanessa Kraven vs. Leah Von Dutch
Chikara's 3.0 Out: This news saddened us the most as Smash Wrestling was and still is determined to offer an alternative to the current tag team scene. We were very proud to do that with two very talented and Canadian teams. However, Shane Matthews contact us today with news of a knee injury that will prevent him from stepping into a ring come Sunday. Immediately after this news both 3.0 and Smash Wrestling agreed that the Chikara fan favourites need to make an appearance with Smash Wrestling in the upcoming future. We promise our fans that we will make an effort to fulfill this desire. ?? In: This replacement was found to be the most challenging. We are currently in discussion with two teams. As much as we would of liked to wait until this was figured out to make our major announcement, we decided it was top priority to give our fans an immediate notice rather than a last minute one. You have our word that we are doing our best and that there will be a tag match that WILL deliver come Sunday.
SPECIAL BONUS!!!! Not only did Smash Wrestling management go out and do their best to find the best available replacements but they went out their way to contract a MAJOR talent for our second show. At "Inception", not only are we going to announce this talent and our second event but we will also offer a special discounted ticket price for our second event to those who will support this great card.
REFUND POLICY OFFERED: We hope that no one wishes to refund their tickets; however, that choice is RIGHTFULLY up to you. Those who purchased advanced tickets can e-mail us at smashwrestling@hotmail.com if they wish for a refund. Those in attendance will be offered the same at the door.
UPDATED CARD Scotty O'Shea vs. Tyson Dux Matt Cross vs. Brent Banks Player Uno vs. Mathieu St. Jacques Alex Vega vs. Tadarius Thomas Gregory Iron vs. John Greed Alexander/Suave (formerly VIP) vs. ?? Vanessa Kraven vs. Leah Von Dutch Plus: Free WWE PPV, special talent announcement + discount for next show All for: $15!!!
Happy or not with this news, we hope we provided you all with timed honesty and quality replacements.
