Just found this on Live Journal: From Josh Abercrombie's Live Journal "Eddie Guerrero passed away. I probably wasn't going to mention much about it, maybe the fact that I really liked his work. But this morning a local radio morning show distastefully took shots at the recent death of Eddie. It moved on to all pro wrestlers, pro wrestling deaths, careers being dead, etc. They even put a poll on their website for "Your favorite dead wrestler". I'm rarely offended, nor do I complain about things, but for what it's worth, I'm appalled by the on going topic in which they prolonged. These people no nothing about the hardships professional wrestlers indure or anything. It was disrespectful and I am outraged about it. So I e-mailed them and told them I want them to apologize. I encourage everyone to flood their e-mail on your thoughts of their actions. freebeerandhotwings@hotmail.com" Here's some more info that I researched and more email addresses to flood the station with, this shit is fuckin disgusting and pisses me right off. Go even one further and email the staff at 105.7 The Hawk in New Jersey as they air the "Free Beer and Wings" Radio show. Here is a list of names and their emails and full contact info for the station. Just copy and paste the following into your address bar of your email and all of them will get the email. Copy and paste into address bar or cc: freebeerandhotwings@hotmail.com, DoctorPhil@1057thehawkfm.com, steven.mckiernan@mrgnj.com, dan.turi@mrgnj.com, jay.pierce@mrgnj.com, colin.coogan@mrgnj.com You can mail or call them as well at: Mailing Address 105.7 THE HAWK (WCHR-FM) 1015 Atlantic City Boulevard (Route 9) Bayville, NJ 07721 Phone Numbers Request/Contest Line - 877- HAWK-1057 Studio Fax Line - 732-818-9304 Business Phone - 732-818-9303 or 866-261-1057 (toll free) Business Fax - 732-818-9304 Operations Manager/Program Director: Phil LoCascio - DoctorPhil@1057thehawkfm.com Assistant Program Director: Steve McKiernan - steven.mckiernan@mrgnj.com Production Director: Dan Turi - dan.turi@mrgnj.com Chief Engineer: Jay Pierce - jay.pierce@mrgnj.com Promotions Director: Colin Coogan - colin.coogan@mrgnj.com 1057thehawkfm.com/contacts.shtmlwww.freebeerandhotwings.com/ Be heard and pass the info around.

In the time it took me to post that last post, this came up about another radio show. This time it was an ESPN host: www.lordsofpain.net/news/2005_/articles/1131996184.phpESPN Radio Host Makes Tasteless Comments About Guerrero Passing Submitted by Daniel Pena on Monday, November 14, 2005 at 2:23 PM EST Anthony P. Landrosh sent in the following letter to me. He said that he was listening to ESPN radio earlier today, "The Herd With Colin Cowherd", and Colin Cowherd said some rude comments about Eddie Guerrero's passing. He accused Eddie and other wrestlers of steroid use. Cowherd said, "who cares that he died" and that Guerrero's death was not "newsworthy." He also started speculation on the "unknown causes" of his death. Colin Cowherd has a subsite on ESPN.com, which you can visit by CLICKING HERE. He's the guy on the top banner of the page. His site also has an e-mail form where you can send an e-mail. CLICK HERE to visit the e-mail page if you have something to say to him. Anyways, here is the letter paralegal Anthony P. Landrosh typed..... __________________________________ I don't even know if anyone will even read this or care, but I want you to know that there are a lot of people that care about Eddie Guerrero (WWE star that passed away yesterday morning). Regardless of what you or your listeners think about professional wrestling, it does not change the fact the Mr. Guerrero was a human being and to be so ignorant (Colin) by disrespecting him or his job a day after his death is borderline heartless. I am a 32 year old male that (as most men in my demographic) spends a good portion of time watching Sportscenter, College Game Day, and NFL Sunday Night to mention a few shows on ESPN and its affiliates. I want you to know that the actions that your Radio hosts has just caused you a viewer and listener. I also intend to post this on many other sites, so people can see how disrespectful you really are. FYI- The disrespectful comments were made on the Colin Cowherd show this morning on ESPN Radio, accusing Eddie and other wrestlers of steroid use, making mention that "who cares that he died" this isn't even "newsworthy" and speculating as to the "unknown causes" of the death. Thank you for your time. Anthony Landrosh

Just a note on the ESPN story, I'm listening to the Monday Night Mayhem show right now and the host just announced that ESPN is getting so flooded with calls and emails right now that they've had to bring in other departments to handle the flood. The guy needs to be fired.

Well I'd like to point one thing out, some people care 'cause for the past three to four years RAW's ratings have beaten out Monday Night Football. I wonder why football players want to become wrestlers? Shit even 102.9 K-lite fm here in the Hammer Spoke kind words about Eddie and they usually don't even speak about sports.

Got a response from the Free Beer and Hot Wings morning show that I posted about in the first post of this thread. He asked me what it was that they said that was offensive and how did I know if I didn't listen to the show. I replied with the description I read on Josh Abercrombie's Live Journal and they responded back with this:
"Emanuel,
What this email does not capture was the fact that we did talk about how hard the wrestling life can be, and mentioned some of the stuff we learned from the wrestlers we've interviewed over the years like mick Foley, Randy Savage and Roddy Piper. We also talked about how rough the life can be for these guys, and referenced the film Beyond the Mat. We also talked about how Eddie was clean for four years, but the hard living might have caught up with him. And the "Favorite Dead Wrestler poll" came up because we were talking about how much it sucked that all these guys had died so young.
We also had a number of former pro wrestlers on this morning who heard the segment yesterday and didn't have a problem with it.
It seems the original emailer missed the mark by quite a bit. Feel free to forward this to all the same people as the original.
The Free Beer & Hot Wings Show"
At least they had the decency to respond and clear the air. Still waiting for a reply from ESPN, of course I do understand they were extremely busy yesterday.

For those of you that didn't hear the ESPN radio show you can go to ESPN, click on Radio and listen to the Herd show archived but if you don't want to give ESPN any more publicity by going to their website and increasing their traffic here is an article done by Dave Scherer about the comments made:
ESPN PERSONALITY UNDER HEAVY FIRE FOR CLASSLESS REMARKS HE MADE ABOUT EDDIE GUERRERO by Dave Scherer @ 10:26:00 AM on 11/15/2005
Yesterday on his daily show on ESPN radio show, host Colin Cowherd addressed the death of Eddie Guerrero. I received a lot of email about it yesterday from irate fans and wanted to hear the segment for myself before covering it here. I got to do so this morning.
Cowherd admitted up front that he doesn't like wrestling and doesn't follow it. He took issue that a pro wrestler's death was covered in the sports pages, since wrestling is predetermined. He said that if Hulk Hogan died, he should be put in another section of the paper because he transcends the business. He said that there were certain careers where when someone dies, it doesn't belong in the sports page. His argument was that wrestling is theatre and doesn't belong in the sports pages. His producer, who is a wrestling fan, argued that he belonged in the paper because he was a TV star. When talking about Eddie being found dead in his hotel room he said, "I don't care why". I am sure that was one of the hot button comments that angered readers.
In fairness, I listened to the segment a few times and I don't think he meant that he doesn't care that Eddie died. He was saying that as a sports fan, he didn't think wrestling coverage should be in the sports page, but I can definitely see how people would be offended by what he said, especially if they weren't closely listening to the show and just heard the remark in passing.
Then, a caller was asked what he thought about covering wrestling in newspapers and he said he didn't care because 90% of the wrestlers were "all juiced up". The producer made the great point that "athletes don't juice, right?" Cowherd said his producer was right and by that criteria they wouldn't be able to cover baseball slugger Sammy Sosa. A second caller said he worked at a paper and the death belonged elsewhere in the paper, if they had space for it.
Then came the most offensive comment of the segment when Cowherd, in mentioning that they should just cover his death in the obituary section said, "Why couldn't you put Eddie Guerrero's picture in the obituary with a big mask on. He'd be like a wrestler. He passed away doing steroids."
I got the impression that he wasn't saying that Guerrero died of steroid use with his statement, but he was posing a hypothetical, albeit uncaring, situation. Still, he came across as extremely insensitive to the fact that a real man had died. His producer, on the other hand, did a good job of defending the business and of being a civil human being.
The segment has led to us receiving a large amount of angry email from readers, who have also told us that they have emailed ESPN about this.
Anyone who wishes to email Cowherd can do so at this address: theherd@espnradio.com

So people think wrestlers are nothing but jacked up roid monkeys? Well I would put a wrestler against most athletes in the world today. Put wrestlers up against any other athlete in a physical test and they could keep up to or do better than most, let them take a piss test before hand though. Well I guess there wouldn't be a contest then because as many or more conventional athletes are on steroids.I don't watch most other sports anymore because I think that most of the athletes are overpaid crybabies. Wrestlers put their bodies through a tone of hardship for the love of it and of their fans and don't go on strike at the first sign of adversity, in fact they have never been on strike. Wrestlers do this for a fraction of what a basketbal player makes who would take a week off for a hangnail. If you want to talk about fixed contests lets talk boxing because nothing is more rigged than that, and I don't care what the Nevada State Athletic Commission says. Also I would like to say to all the armchair quarterbacks and pro sport rejects with radio and TV shows to keep your opinions to yourself about a athletic industry that I love and do not comment on it in the future unless you know what you are talking about. I know that would make for a very silent show because anyone that would make comments about things they know nothing about are probably pretty ignorant. My hat goes off to the people in this industry that take it seriously and respect it because you are some of the most underrated athletes and entertainers in the world. So in closing my deepest regrets go out to the family and friends of Eddie Guerrero. I know they will never read this but I wish to express the sentiment.
