ROUND 1 MATCH: THE NIGHT TRAIN JUSTIN SANE has caught fire not only as Burlington’s hometown hero, but as a fighting warrior who returned from injury despite Nick Watts trying to put him out of action, and recently survived a tough battle with the punishing Steve Brown to qualify for this tournament. Sane wanted to be a part of the Iron Cup last year, but said injury kept him out. But he wants to do what he says he would’ve done last year, and that’s win it all. And embark on the path he feels he should already be on, and that’s the road to the Openweight Title. THE CANADIAN BAD BOY TYLER HILL has proven to be arguably the toughest and most gritty competitor in Pro Wrestling Ontario, as his outright war with current Openweight Champ Jake Jones left people in awe. To qualify for this tournament Hill had to beat one of the most red-hot youngest competitors on the scene in Corey Stone. Hill has reached the top for other promotions recently, and now he won’t settle for anything less than being the number one guy in PWO. THE HIGH RISK HERO RIP IMPACT has built a one of a kind reputation across Ontario, Canada, and has also made it to ROH in the U.S., as well as Mexico. Despite his extensive experience and miles and matches he’s logged in the wrestling game, he’s far from finished, and is still at the top of his game, and has shown no signs whatsoever of slowing down. His qualifying win over 1/3 of the Trios Champions, Hacker Scotty O’Shea in what was a spectacular match, was also his Pro Wrestling Ontario debut. And now Rip has his sights set on the prestigious Iron Cup, THE BEATDOWN FROM B-TOWN RANDY BYNOE has taken Pro Wrestling Ontario by storm, and is living up to his name, and will remind anyone who will listen, or even those who won’t, he’ll make them listen to him say that he is the best pure athlete in PWO today. He’s been knocking out opponents left and right, and was superb in his performance against Brett Michael David in the qualifying round. Bynoe feels he has nothing to proven, and it’s simply that the Iron Cup is foregone conclusion, and so is his continued success. ROUND 1 MATCH: MATTHEW GRANT, last year’s winner, has been given an automatic spot in the tournament thanks to CEO Bill Chase. However, the former champion is angry. Angry about the fact he dind’t get an automatic rematch for the Openweight Title which he held for a year. The same title he won by winning this very tournament. The debate if Bill Chase’s decision was biased or not is still raging, but nobody can dispute the fact that Matt Grant was a very successful champion, and did indeed defy the odds by winning last year. There’s no doubt he can do it again, but this time he’s got a new attitude, some say a very bad attitude, and he’s also, got someone on his side. THE REJECT JT KIRK, indeed Matt Grant’s cohort in Empire, JT Kirk has been biding his time and rising through the ranks, and has amassed significant victories, but none more significant than the one he scored over Taylor Kay-Deen to qualify for the tournament. Kirk has been somewhat more vocal as of late, but the man speaks with a soft tone, but when the bell rings, he has anything but that, as his unrelenting aggression can leave any given opponent laying for a long time. And with he and Matt Grant as a cohesive unit, this first round match could go his way. THE LONE WOLF AIDEN RAYNE has been the subject of some recent scrutiny form CEO Bill Chase, who felt Rayne’s reputation of a crazed out of control competitor held some validity, and there are some who would agree, but as his unwanted manager Miss Becky got involved in his qualifying match with Tyler Aero, it nearly cost Rayne dearly, but he still persevered, perhaps showing he doesn’t always need to resort to his brawling ways to win. Aiden Rayne has the heart of a champion, and now he wants to be one! Last year due to personal reasons he didn’t get his chance, but now he’s ready for anything that stands in his way, and that includes his recent detractors. DIAMOND TIGER KOBE DURST enters Pro Wrestling Ontario with star value, and an immense reputation that is highly regarded in the independent wrestling scene. He has won titles everywhere he goes, and has wins over names such as Josh Alexander, Ethan Page, and Michael Elgin. That is why he was selected to be the final seed in the tournament, because it is his desire to be a champion, and the fact he’s been known to keep titles in addition to winning them, is why PWO recruited him for this spot, because he forces anyone he is in the ring with to up their game to even have a chance to compete wit him, let alone beat him. NEW MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT! LIAM WORLDWIDE was once part of the red-hot, yet dissension filled Trios team Desired by Design. After betraying Jessie Mack, Dylan Daniels walking away from him, the brash and cocky youngster is on his own. Tho he’s perfectly fine with that, feeling that his former partners only held him from reaching his true potential. He gets a chance to show how good a singles competitor he is, when he takes on STRAIGHT-UP TAYLOR KAY-DEEN! As for TKD, he suffered a heart-breaking loss failing to qualify for The Iron Cup. The resilience of Kay-Deen is what has kept him coming back over and over, never letting anything keep him down. He’s taken some beatings, but he has also seen some success and he’s poised to rebound once again. See this and more on SATURDAY MARCH 30th at the BURLINGTON LIONS CLUB! OPENWEIGHT TITLE MATCH! IT IS NOW OFFICIAL! The journey that JAKE HEAVYWEIGHT JONES took to become the Openweight Champion at Unhinged, wasn’t easy. After a heated and violent rivalry with Tyler Hill, he overcame Matt Grant to become the new champ. But rather than coasting he used his decision well when he openly called out, THE KING OF THE NORTH CARTER MASON. It was back in August where the two were scheduled to go one-on-one, however injuries prevented Mason from making it to that show. Jake saw it for what it was, a chance to prove just how good he is, by beating one of the best. He wants the chance he was eager for in August, and now he wants to do it as a Champion. While Jake’s bold challenge is one to be admired, this is Carter Mason we’re talking about. A man who steals the show everywhere he goes. Further more a man, who wins matches and titles everywhere he goes. For Mason, Pro Wrestling Ontario is yet another stage, to showcase how talented he really is. He’s coming to win, and he’s coming to be a champion.
