The blockbuster MAIN EVENT! In a rematch from @war, Fringe Pro Wrestling Champion Carter Mason takes on challenger, Ashley Sixx of The Unit! Their previous match was thrown out due to the attack at the hands of the newly formed faction of Sixx, Bill Black, and Justin Sane, and led by Fringe C.E.O., Cameron Banks. For this rematch, not only is The Unit going into the show as a strong new faction, but any rematch clause has been thrown out the window! There will only be one winner, and that'll be the end of it. Should Carter Mason be victorious and retain his Championship, then Ashley Sixx can never challenge for it as long as Mason is Champ. But if Ashley Sixx wins, the Carter cannot challenge Sixx to get it back. Banks has constantly stacked the deck against Mason, yet Mason's resilience and will to fight has allowed him to triumph over adversity, no matter what. However one has to wonder, has Banks finally figured out a way to get the coveted title away from Mason? With the measures he resorted to in making this a No Disqualification match, Mason's about to fight his biggest fight to date at Fringe.
After an intense back and forth battle last month, "All Ego" Ethan Page emerged victorious over Shane Sabre, getting a measure of payback with the victory. However earlier in the show, Sabre and his partner Warmack became the Fringe Pro Wrestling World Tag Team Champions, and Warmack aided his partner in a post-match attack! But this may have come back to bite them in the ass. Page vowed that come August 24th at Stoney Creek United Church, he was coming back again to Fringe Pro Wrestling at THE SHOWDOWN, and he wasn't coming alone! It's officially announced that Ethan's long-time tag team partner "The Walking Weapon" Josh Alexander would be joining him to challenge The Goat Brigade for the titles. That's right folks! Monster Mafia is back in Ontario, and they make their return at The Showdown! Knowing how dangerous these two can be together, The Goat Brigade looks to be in for a world of hurt!
Will White is no more. Bill Black is here to stay, and he's more dangerous than ever under the control of Cameron Banks. As a member of The Unit, who knows what he's capable of now that he's unleashed - literally. However John Atlas, who had an impressive debut last month, could score a huge victory by defeating Black to move him up the rankings at Fringe, but rest assured Atlas has his work cut out for him.
Making his Fringe Pro Wrestling debut is none of than Anthony Kingdom James. Kingdom will be taking on the ever-resilient and beloved Alessandro Del Bruno, fan-favourite "Hacker" Scotty O'Shea, and "Reckless" Ryan Swift, who will each be vying for their own victory. For Swift, he's already guaranteed a main event Championship match, but this will go a long way toward cementing himself as a man deserving of the accolades the Fringe World Championship bestow. Del Bruno and "Hacker" both have something to prove, with neither one getting what they needed out of @war. Alessandro may have won his match, but certainly not the way he wanted - and "Hacker" came up short against his buddy Ryan Swift. Walking into the vicious path of Anthony "Kingdom" James, a ring veteran who doesn't care one bit what any fan thinks of him, may not be the wisest move for these men. When Kingdom was first approached by management at Fringe, he demanded a match where he could show what he is truly all about in that ring, and wants a chance to wreck three popular superstars. While Kingdom may not care what fans think, he would bask in the joy of sucking the life out of the crowd, merely because he can. This outright legit badass personality Kingdom possesses is something he has backed up on several occasions. However, the other three will not be pushovers, as we have seen what they can do as well, both Hacker and Del Bruno have achieved their fair share of success in their careers, while Swift won't even let an injury stop him. This is one match so packed with talent, the church is going to burst!
Jim Nye is returning from a serious neck injury that kept him from competing at Fringe's last event, @war. This time, he will be taking on "The High Risk Hero" Rip Impact. Nye has yet to be pinned or submitted thus far in Fringe, and Rip has proven to be a top notch competitor. Both of these men are entered in September's Redline Championship tournament at Fringe Pro Wrestling Presents: OVERDRIVE. Could this be a preview of things to come?
How about this big tag team showdown? You would think losing the Fringe World Tag Team titles would be enough to split the volatile partnership of "The King of Skids" Rhys Greenaway & Dan Magnum. Despite the fact they don't like each other, they clearly respect one another enough to stay a team, and try to climb back up the ladder to get their titles back. Standing in their way however, is two men making their Fringe debut, Marc Hauss & Preston Myles. Both men are fantastic competitors in the ring, and have proven it many a time. Now, they team up and they're ready to show Fringe exactly what they've got; both looking to make an immediate impact. Is Greenaway and Magnum's mutual respect strong enough to keep them together and win this match? Or will the Fringe newcomers shine bright?
Hammer City Champion Xavier Rome has been a thorn in the side of Fringe COO "The Grinder" Mark Shaw, and so he ordered this match to take place. But did it backfire on him? The last time they met in a street fight - a non-title affair - but now this is for all the marbles, and Shaw is gunning for Rome in the worst way; so much so that he's enlisted the help of 4 other people. But what happens if one of those 4 people want the title more? In the end, it IS every man for himself, after all. Allegiances are out the window, when you stop and think about it. PLUS, I may have just paid someone off myself. 6 men. 1 title. 1 fall. It's HAMMER CITY CHAOS! |
